A Novel Vane-twisted Conformal Diffuser for Compact Centrifugal Compressors

Compact aero-engines that use centrifugal compressors are in high demand due to their small size and cost-effectiveness. However, limited improvements the aerodynamic performance of impellers have led a greater focus on improving diffusers. This paper introduces novel vane conformal diffuser designed match an impeller with pressure ratio. The utilizes unique design method creates transitions from two-dimensional meridian three-dimensional configuration, achieve twisted for hub. Eventually integrated configuration is formed radial section bend axial sections. significantly reduces entire compressor compared conventional vaned diffuser. Different cross-section area distributions studied explore reasonable static recovery ability To validate new concept, diffusers two existing high-pressure redesigned using configuration. numerical results show performances improved terms both total ratio isentropic efficiency counterparts.
